Hello, and welcome to my blog!
August is my birthday month, and as I reach another year of life, I feel the pull for a change.
I’ve been hard at work writing my next release, and though it has a great plot and amazing characters, I’ve found myself feeling a strange heaviness in my chest. A weight which has made me feel repressed, though I couldn’t figure out why.
I’ve been writing contemporary romance for years, but ironically, contemporary isn’t my favorite sub-genre of romance to read.
For the last few months, I’ve been on a journey to the past, reminiscing on my childhood and being seven years old, setting up a step stool in front of my parents’ bookshelf so I could reach the mythology volume of their Encyclopedia Britannica.
I’d get lost for hours, reading about Roman, Greek, and Nordic Gods and Goddesses, in awe of their strength and power. I’d go to bed dreaming of a land where I got to run with centaurs, and escape Medusa’s killer stare.
By the age of eight, I was reading The Hobbit, and that was just the beginning of my love for fantasy.
I’ve always had an overactive imagination and daydreaming is my forte.
As I wrote my current dark romance, I couldn’t help but feel the need to give my heroine supernatural sight, or give her wings so she could escape the terrors of the dungeon she’d been thrown into.
The frustration at not being able to do just that was profound.
I was so torn, wanting to give my readers what they expect of me, but feeling as if I was doing myself a disservice.
Life is short, and this is my art. My stories are the one thing that feeds my soul. The one thing in my life that’s mine to do with as I please.
The fear of losing my current contemporary romance readers is real, but I also feel a responsibility to give you all exceptional stories, and the only way of doing just that is to write from my heart.
Luckily for me, many readers enjoy contemporary and fantasy in equal measure, so I am hopeful you will all decide to stick with me on this new adventure, as an author of dark and erotic, high fantasy romance!
For those of you who read my short story in the After the Rain Charity Anthology, I’m happy to announce that Vox and Bloom have been bestowed with incredible magical powers, and they will be one of the main couples in my upcoming series!
I’ll be sharing the series name, and more details of this amazing story throughout the next few months.
The cover for book one is already being made, and I’m obsessed with plotting this incredible story filled with magical realms, powerful women, and the sexy winged men who will love them.
Here are some of the tropes you’ll find in this series:
- High Fantasy
- Dark romance
- Erotic
- Angels & demons
- Enemies to lovers
- Forced proximity
